Sofia's Pastries

Hello my name is Sofia Brecha, and I am the owner of Sofia’s Pastries. I have accumulated over 30 years of experience as a chef in the Greek kitchen. For my business I make various Greek food, pies and deserts that I sell. I am located in Swansea for the last decade. I started my business a couple of years ago when lockdown had just started. I got inspired to start my business because many people were complaining about restaurants and food places being closed, which they didn’t want to cook for themselves and they kept asking me to cook for them. From this I started to make Greek food at home which I then delivered so people could experience new flavours whilst them getting it from their homes.

My food recipes are traditional since they have been passed on from the Greek kitchen in my family from generation to generation. For example, most of my recipes have come from my grandmother who was also a chef and I have just continued to develop her recipes to our modern day food where some of them can be gluten free, lactose free, vegan etc. The thing that I enjoy the most about my job, is receiving the feedback on my food. From this, I can develop and adjust my food to peoples liking not just my own. This has been driven and motivated me to continue this business for the last couple years. The thing that I am proudest for my business is that I have kept my Greek cultural even though I’m in a different country. Additionally, I always use free range of meats, eggs and vegs for our local farmers. However, the most proudest thing that has come out of my business are my loyal customers who stayed with me these past couple years and relied on me to set up their parties and their other private events. I have collaborated with others on different markets since over these years I have made lots of friends who help me and I help them. All the recipes I have created are my creation and I cherish each and every one of them, but the products that has stood out by far are the pies since they have been our highest sellers.
