Eden Herbs
I grow medicinal and culinary herbs, as well as perennial vegetable, natural dye and wildlife plants at my home nursery near Ystradgynlais.
Everything is grown with intention and without the use of inorganic pesticides or fertilisers. I use second hand plant pots where possible, and my current pest control team are my two resident polytunnel/ greenhouse frogs who keep slugs in check. I prefer to use wildlife as pest control, and the resident birds, hedgehogs and frogs do an excellent job of that.
I was inspired to start my business whilst living in Portugal. After my beloved dog Mossy passed away, sowing some seeds every day was my way of dealing with the grief. Soon I had a polytunnel filled with beautiful plants, and so I decided to take them to market to sell. They were extremely popular, and so Eden Herbs was born. I now live near the beautiful Brecon Beacons with a beautiful inspiring landscape, not dissimilar to Central Portugal- but a little colder, and so I have learned to adapt to growing in a colder climate.
I am inspired to provide people with plants to grow their own medicine, create self sufficiency in wellbeing and plants that will provide wildlife with food and habitat. Plants have the most amazing way of bringing communities and people together from all paths of life, and places around the world. I adore growing plants from many different places and learning about their traditional indigenous uses, as well as growing and learning about our amazing native herbal medicine in the British Isles. My best selling herbs are Yarrow ( Achillea millefolium) Mint, Basil and Mugwort ( Artemisia vulgaris). I adore what I do, and am so excited to be able to bring these incredible plants to the people of Cardiff
