Vessels Pottery

I’m George, a potter from Cardiff. I create handmade ceramic tableware’s for homes and restaurants from my shipping container studio in Adamsdown. I used to work as an engineer for Airbus but found a passion for clay at evening classes and decided life was too short to spend in an office. I draw inspiration from traditional British studio pottery, Japanese philosophies, and contemporary makers. I draw inspiration from a variety of sources from green woodworking to natural landscapes and incorporate them into my work through a series of loose playful making sessions, keeping my favourites. As a potter I get to play with mud and fire and I don’t think I will ever tire of that, every day is different and there are always new skills to try and develop. I am most proud of my business itself; it hasn’t been easy leaving my comfortable life as an engineer, but I am so much more fulfilled and happy. My favourite product is my ash glazed pasta bowls, I use them almost every day, sometime for every meal, the form and glaze took a lot of developing and I’m happy with the results.
