What's in store at Cardiff Farmers Markets in 2023

In case you missed it, earlier this month we were pleased to make the shortlist for the Best Retail Business category at this year’s Cardiff Life Awards.

The Cardiff Life Awards are designed to showcase the best of local business, are free to enter, and put the focus on celebrating the great and the good of the Welsh capital. All of the winners in each category will be decided by an independent judging panel of local business folk at the end of February - we’re thrilled to be shortlisted but we’ll keep you posted on whether we take home any trophies!

This news follows on from a busy 2022 - where we welcomed 43 new traders to our markets over the course of 12 months. revealed our big brand refresh (a new name and a new look which better reflects who we are), and finished the year being awarded Best Farmer’s Market in Wales at the Slow Food UK Awards in December.

So as we’re already a few weeks into the new year, we thought we’d set out our stall (excuse the pun) and outline what more you can expect from us in 2023…

  1. Our three weekly markets, regular as clockwork, come rain or shine: You can always buy a wide range of essentials like fruit, veg, meat, dairy and bakery products, alongside food and drink from some of Wales’ most exciting small food producers; Rhiwbina Farmers Market on Fridays, Roath Farmers Market on Saturdays, and Riverside Farmers Market on Sundays.

  2. Our pop-up markets at Cardiff Met University - not just for students! These monthly term-time markets help the city’s student population get access to farm-fresh produce and meet new producers, but they are always open to everyone - not just uni students and staff. Find out more.

  3. Our monthly speciality market at St Fagans Museum of Welsh Life: Returning on March 18th, and running every third Saturday of the month, here you will find a great selection of artisan baked goods, confectionary, cheese, spirits, pantry items crafts and more. Find out more.

  4. The return of our post-work street food market at Riverside: Launching in April (when the weather is a little warmer) is our monthly Riverside street food market on Fitzhammon Embankment. An opportunity to meet friends after work to enjoy some great local street food on your way home - keep an eye on our socials and newsletter for more info.

  5. More music! Here at Cardiff Farmers Markets, we love a little ambience. We’re lining up some new musicians for spring - keep an eye on our socials and newsletter for more info.

  6. More new traders! We added 43 new small foodie businesses to our roster last year, and we want to add even more in 2023. If you are interested in booking a stall with us, please contact booking@cardifffarmersmarkets.org.uk and we will come back to you as soon as we can.

Hope to see you at the market soon!
